The lessons follow the structure of the Steps Method. This method provides a structured approach to teaching chess to children of different levels. Each lesson lasts one and a half hours and consists of three parts. The lesson begins with a group session, during which the chess teacher gives the children a lesson on an aspect of chess. This is followed by a serious chess game among the kids themselves played as part of an internal competition. During the final part of the lesson, the children work individually in their Steps workbook. They receive personal guidance and assistance from the chess teacher whenever necessary.
Steps workbooks for all levels can be purchased through the chess school at a reduced price.
The chess lessons are open to children between the ages of 6 and 12 of different playing strengths and levels of chess knowledge. Participants are required to know the basic rules of chess.
The lessons take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. All lessons are held in the afternoon, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM. Children can arrive from 4:00 PM onwards.
The cost is €130 per year for one lesson per week and €150 per year for two lessons per week.
